In the spring of 2020 We will be uncertain about the future of the Rotary member-to-member connection. It is clear, however that the hand-to-face tradition is going to remain part of our routine. Rotary has, however, changed. In the months leading up to the summer of 2021, there is still uncertainty about the way we'll provide support to the local community. This involves the importance of human connection that was enjoyed by Rotary members of old. Although the mantra of hands face space' is sure to be part of our ongoing routine it is apparent that confidence is building and connections between face-to-face are being made. However, Rotary has changed. Rotary is a network which fosters lasting friendships. Our practices have been refined to keep online meetings at the forefront of our workplaces, as well as introducing events for service and social in an in-person format. We've taken these new possibilities and merged them with the best of our practices to create an optimistic future for Rotary! It was encouraging to learn that 75 percent of Rotary clubs are planning to carry on their "business regular" actions. This summer the majority of Rotary club members have been seen with their families and friends, working on various tasks, such as beach and river cleanings and litter pick-ups. In a Rotary survey conducted recently it was encouraging to learn the fact that 75% the clubs had planned their normal events and initiatives that had previously helped communities throughout Great Britain and Ireland. It's wonderful to learn that the Rotary support centre team provides valuable resources which help with the maintenance and promotion of the infrastructure. It also helps keep people who are members protected. The need for insurance and compliance is also important. Amazingly, our Rotarians have been able to find innovative and creative solutions for the toughest issues. This is why I was so happy to get the chance to become a member of Rotary at the age of 22 in. Rotary, like so other organizations, has provided me with a strong network of fellow members who share my values and who have made genuine connections in the last 20 years.
